Sheila Ujoodha

Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Chairperson of the Audit & Risk Committee, Chairperson of the Directors Forum
Sheila Ujoodha is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD) with 21 years of hands-on experience in internal audit, risk management, corporate governance and process improvement on both the local and international market. Sheila Ujoodha holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting. As a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants and the MIoD, Sheila’s membership extends to the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants. Sheila’s participation extends to the Audit Committee Forum (ACF) and the Directors Forum, where she is presently the Chairperson. Sheila was awarded the CMO Africa Woman Leadership Award in 2017 for her contribution as a business leader displaying her best in the professional field. In 2019, she was conferred the Africa Impact Leadership Award at the SADC Women Forum and was induced into the SADC Women Leaders Hall of Fame. She joined British American Tobacco (Mauritius) as the Internal Audit Manager in 2001. In March 2005, she was employed as General Manager of the Risk & Audit Department of Rogers Group and was subsequently appointed as Chief Risk & Audit Executive in 2007. Sheila joined the Cim Group in the same capacity in October 2012 to February 2018. She was recently the Managing Director of SmarTree Consulting Ltd from March 2018 to November 2020. She is a Board member of Innodis Ltd, Alteo Ltd and Smartree Consulting Ltd and acts as Chairperson of the Audit & Risk Committee at Alteo Ltd and Innodis Ltd.

Maëta Appavou

Membership Development Executive

Maëta is the Membership Development Executive of the Institute since 2015. Responsible of the membership department and the MIoD director search services, she has been assigned to manage the HR portfolio in 2019.  She holds a Professional Bachelor’s in Administration. With more than 23 years of experience in the Administration Management field, Maëta started her career  in France, working in different sectors, such as Law firm, Business Center and Automobile Industry.

In 2011, Maëta joined Logon which operates under the license of Scotwork International and in 2013 she is recruited as Client Partner with Scotwork Mauritius.

Meera Gungabissoon

Administrative Assistant

Meera Devi Gungabissoon joined the Mauritius Institute of Director in April 2021 as Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and secretarial support for the office while ensuring a high level of confidentiality of sensitive matters.

Meera had the privileged to work locally and internationally in various organisations and has an enriched experience of more than 22 years in the professional world.

She began her tenure in 1993 as Administrative Coordinator for Alupro Ltd (Aluminium Industries) where she dealt with public relationship, monitoring mails and updating inventory stock.

Meera left for an international career in Ireland (2007-2009) by joining Eason & Son Co.Ltd as Office Secretary where she was mainly the frontline for customer care by answering multi-line phones and building a positive impression for the company.

In 2009, after returning back to her native island, she joined Smart and Creative Builders Ltd as Administrative Secretary where she prepared correspondence, forms, calendars and others related documents.

Furthermore, Meera had the great opportunity to work for Innodis Ltd from 2015-2019 as Administrative Assistant where she had multiple work to handle such as managing front reception desk, performing account receivable duties and renewing trade license fee and factory registration.

She also had a brief career as Administrative Secretary at Bridge Shore Co.Ltd (2019-2020) where her job was to provide administrative support for the director as needed.

Cherry-Anne Madeleine

Marketing and Communication Executive

Cherry-Anne Madeleine is the Marketing & Communication Executive of the Institute. With more than 10 years’ experience in the Marketing and Public Relations sectors and prior to joining MIoD, she was the Communication & PR Manager at Maluti Communications, leading several successful communication campaigns for top companies in Mauritius.

Previously, she was a Consultant at MUA Group, providing financial solutions and helping in developing strategies to catalyze broad impact through the sharing of effective ideas. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications, specializing in Public Relations from Curtin University of Technology, Australia.

Nafeeza Mulung

Advocacy & International Relations Executive

Nafeeza Mulung is the Advocacy and International Relations Executive with over seven years of working experience. She is responsible for the implementation of the MIoD’s training plan and advocacy work through the various Forums and Councils of the MIoD.

Nafeeza holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology from HELP University in Malaysia and has completed her ICSA Qualifying Foundation Programme with ICSA UK.

Tavisha Teelwah

Administrative Officer

Tavisha Teelwah works as an administrative officer at MIoD. She has three years of work experience in the hospitality industry, specifically in the sales & marketing.

She graduated from Vatel International Business School with a bachelor’s degree in International Hotel Management
